MaximaLabs vs AVEVA Process Simulation
SimCentral's one-model, three-mode architecture — in the browser, AI-native, and priced by usage.
AVEVA Process Simulation (SimCentral) broke from the classic sequential simulators with one model you can solve steady-state, pressure-driven, or dynamically, plus an equation-oriented engine. MaximaLabs covers the same three solve modes on one model — a simultaneous equation-oriented solver, reusable Fluids, and hierarchical sub-flowsheets — then adds an AI copilot, zero-install browser access, and live collaboration, without a desktop client or a per-seat license. Honest difference: our dynamic mode solves composition dynamics at fixed hydraulics over any topology, not SimCentral's full pressure-flow dynamic network.
One model, every way to solve it
The architecture that sets AVEVA Process Simulation apart from legacy sequential simulators — matched capability-for-capability, and running in your browser today.
One model, three solve modes
Steady-state, pressure-driven (Cv/Darcy resistances with pumps, compressors and turbines on real curves), and dynamic (holdup DAE) — all from the same flowsheet, toggled without re-authoring.
Equation-oriented simultaneous solver
Solve every stream unknown at once — no tearing — for tight recycle loops, alongside classic sequential-modular. The symbolic path emits exact analytic Jacobians.
Reusable Fluids & hierarchical sub-flowsheets
Define a Fluid once — composition plus property method — and reference it everywhere; collapse a subsystem into a reusable sub-flowsheet block and drill in to edit it. A project-level Fluid library shares them across models.
Progressive fidelity
Swap a column between a fast Fenske-Underwood-Gilliland shortcut and a rigorous MESH solve on the very same node — screen quickly, then refine, with no re-modeling.
Rate-based separations
Maxwell-Stefan two-film columns with published tray and packing mass-transfer correlations, a high-flux correction, and a coupled interface energy balance — for the absorption and reactive separations equilibrium stages get wrong.
Scenarios & case studies
Compare named scenarios side by side and sweep any parameter — each a full re-solve on the same model — to explore a design without forking it.
Every capability here is shipped and running in the browser today. Where a model is screening-grade rather than fully rigorous, we say so in the app — we disclose scope instead of implying databank depth we don't have.
Where MaximaLabs goes further
Same architecture — plus the things a desktop simulator can't be.
- ✓Runs in the browser with zero install — no desktop client, no license server. Open a URL; share a working model by link.
- ✓An AI copilot built in: plain-English flowsheet generation, plain-English convergence diagnostics, and design advice that reads your full simulation state.
- ✓Live multiplayer editing and Git-style version history — several engineers on one flowsheet, not files passed around.
- ✓Usage-based pricing — pay for the solves you run, instead of per-seat perpetual licenses.
- ✓New-energy and specialty physics breadth: electrolyzers, carbon capture, blue-hydrogen SMR, VPSA, crystallizers and solids, polymer thermodynamics — beyond a classic oil-and-gas simulator.
- ✓An open Python SDK and a live example gallery — script the same solver, or fork a real flowsheet in one click.
