Gas processing

Gas processing, on one model

Choke flow, gas transport properties, vapor pressure, compressor sizing and NGL recovery — all off the same converged flowsheet.

Critical / choke flow

Isentropic critical-pressure ratio and choked mass flux for a relief or control valve — GPSA / API 520 / ISO 9300 — sized straight off the stream's real κ and compressibility, not a chart lookup.

Gas viscosity & conductivity

Lee-Gonzalez-Eakin natural-gas viscosity and Eucken thermal conductivity for every gas stream — the transport properties a rating calc needs, evaluated on the actual composition and temperature.

True & Reid vapor pressure

The bubble-point pressure root-found from the thermo package gives a true vapor pressure at any temperature, and RVP at the 100 °F Reid reference — the NGL / condensate spec number, from first principles.

Polytropic compressor sizing

Polytropic head, discharge temperature and gas power from the GPSA / API 617 relations — with the isentropic exponent taken from the same speed-of-sound routine the whole suite shares, so the numbers agree.

Full gas-property datasheet

One call rolls up molar mass, density, Z, Cp/Cv, κ, speed of sound, viscosity, conductivity, Joule-Thomson coefficient and Prandtl number — the vendor-RFQ datasheet for any gas stream, in one place.

CPA thermo for water-in-gas

A Cubic-Plus-Association package handles the hydrogen-bonding water-in-gas and hydrate-inhibitor behavior that a plain cubic misses — the right foundation for dehydration, hydrate and dew-point work.

NGL recovery, one click away

Three worked gas-plant flowsheets you can open, solve and edit — a cold-separator recovery train and two rigorous fractionation columns that close their mass balance to parts-per-million.

Why this is different

The gas-conditioning calculations that normally live in a folder of spreadsheets — choke sizing, transport properties, vapor pressure, compressor duty — run against the same converged streams as the flowsheet. Change a feed rate or a compressor discharge and every property, datasheet and NGL split moves with it, because the simulator, the gas-property suite and the columns all share one unified data model.

Honest by design

  • The gas-property correlations are the published engineering-standard forms — Lee-Gonzalez-Eakin viscosity (JPT 1966), Eucken conductivity, GPSA/API 520/ISO 9300 critical flow, GPSA/API 617 polytropic sizing — screening-grade, scoped to natural-gas / hydrocarbon-vapor service.
  • Every isentropic exponent, Z-factor and property is produced by the deterministic solver and thermo package; this layer assembles and reports them — it never invents a process number.
  • The NGL showcases use the robust Peng-Robinson flash for the rich-gas phase envelope; the CPA package is for water-in-gas and inhibitor work, where hydrogen-bonding matters and a plain cubic falls short.
  • The fractionation columns use the component-flow (Naphtali-Sandholm) MESH method so a sharp C3/C4 cut closes its mass balance to parts-per-million — no heavy-key leak on a near-pinch stage.
  • This is a steady-state screen of each stream's operating point, not a rigorous transient or a vendor-certified design deliverable.

From gas stream to datasheet in one place

Open the analysis tools on any solved gas stream and read its full property datasheet, choke rating and compressor sizing — no re-keying conditions into a separate calculator.
