Reservoir well (IPR) simulation

source — flow solved from the inflow performance relationship

Governing equations

The exact equations the solver works for a reservoir well (ipr) — the same math shown in the app's "Theory" panel, not a black box.

q=J(PrPwf)(undersaturated)q = J\,(P_r - P_{wf})\quad(\text{undersaturated})
qqmax=10.2PwfPb0.8(PwfPb)2(Vogel)\frac{q}{q_{max}} = 1 - 0.2\frac{P_{wf}}{P_b} - 0.8\left(\frac{P_{wf}}{P_b}\right)^2\quad(\text{Vogel})
qq
produced rate [mol/s]
JJ
productivity index [mol/s/Pa]
PrP_r
reservoir pressure [Pa]
PwfP_{wf}
flowing bottomhole pressure [Pa]
PbP_b
bubble-point pressure [Pa]
qmaxq_{max}
absolute open flow — the reservoir's own ceiling [mol/s]

Parameters

reservoir_pressure [Pa]; deliverability as productivity_index [mol/s/Pa] OR a flow test (test_flow [mol/s] + test_pwf [Pa]); flowing_bottomhole_pressure [Pa] — what the facility imposes, and what sets the rate; composition {component: mole fraction}. Optional: bubble_point [Pa] (below it the IPR turns Vogel), temperature [K], pressure [Pa at the wellhead, where the produced stream is flashed].
